Once upon a time a close friend confided in me about being the victim of violence years prior, and how it still profoundly haunted her. The story left me speechless. Later, I thought about how when we are children and are hurt, we can run to mommy or daddy and they can “kiss it and make it better.” Sadly, that doesn’t work for grownups, and the grownup hurts they endure. But I had to respond SOMEHOW, and since words failed I wrote the piece I’m playing for this morning’s prelude instead.
