- At the end. A Psalm. Pertaining to Dauid.
In the Lord I have trusted; how will you say to my soul,
“Flee to the mountains like a sparrow”? - Because, behold, sinners bent a bow;
they prepared arrows for the quiver,
to shoot in the darkness at the upright in heart, - because what you fashioned they overthrew.
But the righteous — what did he do? - The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord’s throne is in heaven.
His eyes look upon the poor;
his eyelids examine the sons of humanity. - The Lord examines the righteous and the impious,
but he who agape-loves injustice hates his own soul. - On sinners he will rain down snares;
fire and sulfur and wind of a tempest are the portion of their cup. - Because the Lord is righteous and agape-loved righteousness,
his face beheld uprightness.
