Psalm 19

  1. Regarding completion. Pertaining to Dauid the servant of the Lord, what he said to the Lord, the words of this ode in the day in which the Lord rescued him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saoul.
  2. and he said:
    I will agape-love you, O Lord, my strength.
  3. The Lord is my firmness and my refuge and my deliver;
    my God is my helper, and I will hope in him,
    my protector and horn of my salvation, my supporter.
  4. Praising, I will call upon the Lord,
    and from my enemies I shall be saved.
  5. Pangs of death seize me,
    and dry-riverbeds of lawlessness troubled me;
  6. Pangs of Hades encircled me;
    snares of death outran me.
  7. And in my affliction I called upon the Lord,
    and to my God I cried.
    From his holy shrine he heard my voice,
    and my cry before him will enter into his ears.
  8. And the earth shook and became atremble,
    and the foundations of the mountains were troubled
    and shook, because God was angry with them.
  9. Smoke went up in his wrath,
    and fire flamed from His countenance;
    coals were ignited by him.
  10. And he inclined heaven and came down,
    and darkness was under his feet.
  11. And he mounted upon cheroubin and flew;
    he flew upon the wings of winds.
  12. And he made darkness his hiding place;
    around him was his tent,
    dark water in clouds of air.
  13. From the brightness before him the clouds passed,
    hail and coals of fire.
  14. And the Lord thundered from heaven,
    and the Most High gave forth his voice.
  15. And he sent out arrows and scattered them,
    and lightnings he multiplied and troubled them.
  16. And the springs of the waters were revealed,
    and the foundations of the inhabited-world were uncovered
    at your rebuke, O Lord,
    at the blast of the breath of your wrath.
  17. He sent out from on high, and he took me;
    he took me to himself out of many waters.
  18. He will rescue me from my powerful enemies
    and from those hating me,
    because they were too strong for me.
  19. They outran me in the day of my affliction,
    and the Lord became my buttress.
  20. And he brought me out into spaciousness;
    he will rescue me, because he wanted me;
    [He will rescue me from my strong enemies
    And from those hating me.]
  21. And the Lord will recompense me according to my righteousness,
    and according to the cleanness of my hands he will recompense me,
  22. because I kept the ways of the Lord
    and did not impiously depart from my God,
  23. because all his judgments were before me
    and his statutes I did not put away from me.
  24. And I will be blameless with him,
    and I will keep myself from my lawlessness.
  25. And the Lord will recompense me according to my righteousness
    and according to the cleanness of my hands before his eyes.
  26. With the devout you will be devout,
    and with the innocent man you will be innocent,
  27. and with the chosen you will be chosen,
    and with the perverted you will pervert,
  28. because it is you who will save a humble people,
    and the eyes of haughty you will humble,
  29. because it is you who will light my lamp, O Lord —
    O my God, you will light my darkness,
  30. because in you I shall be rescued from trial,
    and in my God I will scale a wall.
  31. My God — blameless is his way,
    the sayings of the Lord, tried by fire;
    he is a protector of all hoping in him,
  32. because, who is God except the Lord?
    And who is God except our God? —
  33. God who girded me with power,
    and he made my way blameless,
  34. Mending my feet like a deer’s
    and setting me on the heights,
  35. Teaching my hands for war,
    and placing a bronze bow in my arms.
  36. And you gave me protection for my salvation,
    and your right hand supported me,
    and your instruction set me straight completely,
    and your instruction itself will teach me.
  37. You enlarged my strides under me,
    and my footsteps did not weaken.
  38. I will pursue my enemies and overtake them,
    and I will not turn aside until they fail.
  39. I will much afflict them, and they will not be able to stand;
    they will fall under my feet.
  40. And you girded me with power for war;
    you shackled under me those rising up against me.
  41. And as for my enemies — you gave me their back,
    and those who hated me you destroyed.
  42. They cried out, and there was no one saving them,
    to the Lord, and he did not listen to them.
  43. And I will crush them like dust before the wind;
    like the mire of streets I will grind them down.
  44. You will rescue me from disputes with people;
    you will appoint me as head of nations;
    a people whom I did not know served me.
  45. At the ear’s hearing, it obeyed me.
    Sons of strangers lied to me.
  46. Sons of strangers grew old
    and limped from their paths.
  47. The Lord lives! And blessed is my God,
    and let the God of my salvation be exalted,
  48. the God giving me vengeance
    and subjects peoples under me,
  49. my rescuer from my quick-tempered enemies;
    from those who rise up against me you will lift me up;
    from an unjust man you will rescue me .
  50. Therefore I will acknowledge you among nations, O Lord,
    and make music to your name,
  51. magnifying the acts of deliverance of his king
    and doing mercy to his anointed,
    to Dauid and his seed forever.
